Biography

Kennith Nichol is a composer based in the Comox Valley, British Columbia. He is currently working toward the Licentiate of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Composition.
Nichol studied at the Victoria Conservatory of Music from 2006 to 2009, where Stephen Brown — then director of the Theory and Composition Department — recognized his potential and invited him into the composition program. He received the Katarina Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Composition in 2008. Financial circumstances interrupted his studies, and he spent the following years working in web development.
In 2020 he resumed composition studies with Stephen Brown, completing examinations in Baroque Harmony, Romantic Harmony and Counterpoint, and Orchestration under the former ARCT program. In 2026 he began working independently toward the LRCM in Composition.
